  • He now has his own place and can't be any happier. He bought his house in Maitland. He says that the house looked like one showed in MTV's Cribs.
  • Also, he has now become the parent of two teen aged boys; Jeff and Martin.
  • At the age of 29, the coaches are already seeing that Amaechi's abilities and getting weaker.
  • Unfortunatly, he was sent packing because Sloan didn't understand him, he didn't understand his sexuality. This is just not a reason to discriminate because his sexuality doesn't ahev anything to do with his ability and gays know how to respect.
  • It's been four years since Amaechi retired and he's been living in London and he's having the time of his life. He mentions that though he is extremely private specially with his sexuality, he had the courage to celebrate the Manchester gay pride parade with some friends. • The boy has died.
  • Susan and Meredith came to a conclusion that Paul's story was fiction. But, Susan thinks Meredith is hiding something.
  • Susan is very pensive and doesn't understand why Paul would have wanted someone to read his manuscript during this year, years after his death. • It is said that Ramsey is a town where there is now bad luck and they compare him to it.

  • I think Ozzie is the next fader! "He held up his hand and couldn't see his hand. Could see the room, the floor" (238).
  • There's a stranger in town and he's looking for Ozzie!

  • Why didn't she take Ozzie with her to protect him?

  • Paul and Rosanna speak about Rosanna's pregnancy that no one knew about. She feels horrible because she doesn't know where her son is.
  • Paul reminisces about the fade and how at first it was uncontrollable. There were many occasions where he had to excuse himself because he was going to fade. After a period of time, the fade began to "diminish" Paul.
  • Paul begun to hate the fade. " 'The hell with the fade,' I cried repudiating this thing that had entered my life like something evil" (221).
  • Paul promises himself that he will protect the new fader what his uncle Adelard didn't do for him.

  • Meredith has received a letter in the mail from her grandfather who was an investigator and Paul's family. He told her that the manuscript was fiction because fading isn't real.
  • Besides the evidence they tried to give Meredith about the manuscript being fiction, she believes Paul was telling the truth.

  • The family has a mystery photograph and they don't like to talk about it.
  • According to the stories told, there is an empty spot on the photograph where the protagonist's uncle should be.
  • His father is watching news about Hitler and the young boy only cares about finding out the mystery of the picture.
  • The protagonist looks up to his uncle Adelard because he did things out of the ordinary in town and he wants to be just like that.
  • The photograph isn't the only mystery, there are rumors of strange happenings in a pond near by.
  • Paul went to the pond with Pete at eleven! They see cars approaching and they have niggers and Jews that they are going to kill. Sounds like Paul's and Pete's life are at risk. The killers were the Ku Klux Klan.

  • Has anyone other than family members seen the photograph?
  • I have the same question as the protagonist, where is Adelard?
  • Is he the only curious one out of everyone in the family, besides Adelard?
  • Will he tell his father he was at the scene of the killing?
